Adjustable BPM with real audio click.
A metronome is a device that produces a steady pulse at a set tempo, measured in beats per minute (BPM). Musicians of all levels use metronomes to develop a consistent internal sense of rhythm, practice difficult passages at slow tempos, and gradually increase speed as a piece becomes more comfortable.
This online metronome generates audio clicks using the Web Audio API โ no plugins or downloads needed. The click is synthesised directly in your browser, producing a clean and precise beat at any BPM from 20 to 300.
Drag the slider or use the ยฑ1 and ยฑ5 buttons to set your desired BPM. Choose a time signature (2/4, 3/4, 4/4, or 6/8) โ the first beat of each bar is accented with a higher-pitched click. Press Start to begin. The beat indicators at the top light up in time with the pulse.
As a rough guide: 40โ60 BPM is very slow (Largo), 60โ80 is slow (Adagio), 80โ100 is moderate (Andante), 100โ120 is medium (Moderato), 120โ140 is fast (Allegro), and above 168 is very fast (Presto). Most pop songs sit between 100 and 130 BPM.
