BMI is a rough indicator and doesn't account for muscle mass, bone density, or body composition. Consult a healthcare professional for personalized advice.

BMI Calculator & Ideal Weight — Metric and Imperial

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a screening tool used to assess whether a person's weight is appropriate for their height. It's calculated by dividing weight in kilograms by the square of height in metres. While BMI is widely used and easy to calculate, it has important limitations — it does not account for muscle mass, bone density, age, sex or body fat distribution.

BMI categories (WHO standards)

Under 18.5: Underweight — may indicate malnutrition or other health issues. 18.5–24.9: Normal weight — associated with lower health risks. 25.0–29.9: Overweight — some increased health risk. 30.0 and above: Obese — associated with significantly increased risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and other conditions.

Ideal weight range

The "ideal weight" range shown by this tool is the weight range corresponding to a BMI of 18.5–24.9 for your height. This is a guideline, not a prescription. Athletes with high muscle mass often have a BMI classified as "overweight" despite being in excellent health. Always consult a healthcare professional for personalised advice.

The tool supports both metric (kg/cm) and imperial (lb/ft) inputs.
